Triangular fluted outer bezel
Rolex Features
Rolex triangular grooves are a characteristic of the brand’s watches. Initially, the triangular grooves on the outer ring of the Oyster watch had a practical purpose, which helped to tighten the outer ring to the case and ensure the waterproof performance of the watch.
The grooves visible on the bottom cover are also designed for the same purpose and are screwed onto the case with a specific Rolex tool. Later, the triangular grooves evolved into an aesthetic design element and a classic Rolex feature. Today, the triangular grooves have become a feature of the brand's watches. The outer bezel of this women's datejust is made of gold.
Silver dial
Watchmaking Technology
Many of the dials in the Oyster collection feature a sunray effect that creates a subtle sheen. This effect requires a fine brushing technique to create a pattern that radiates from the centre of the dial.
The light is dispersed along the engravings, creating a subtle and unique effect, showing different luster as the wrist swings. After the sunray effect is completed, the dial is added with color through physical vapor deposition or electroplating technology, and finally finished with varnish.
